Yeah the BMW threw both V belts last night as I was headed down to my brothers house so I could replace the alternator bushings. The alternator is sitting crooked which ate up the new alternator/water pump V belt. The car actually made it a good 15 minutes before it got hot and I realized, oh damn, the water pump is on the same belt. I pulled over about 10 minutes away from my brothers house, called him up and he came out. I figured in case the battery died I'd need a jump to get it going again. Right when I was on his street, the alt belt caught the hydroboost pump belt, taking out my steering and brakes. This car even with the pump, steers like a damn bus, so with no steering this was like trying to steer a deuce and a half with a little wooden steering wheel. I'm glad I had enough reserve pressure to still have brakes.

So its stuck at my brothers house, which means I had to take his 94 explorer home. It has a 4" lift on 33's and a M50d 5spd swap. This is the first time I actually drove manual in traffic since I test drove a 04 S60R in the fall of 2012. All the more reason I need to put a getrag in the bmw this summer!

(I took these in front of the first Michelin Tire factory ever built in the US back in the very early 1900's. Michelin was responsible for at least 1/4 of the homes in my town, most of them were inhabited by the french immigrants that came to work in the plant.)

Ah memories. My best friend had that same color scheme explorer back in high school. He literally figured out how to take corners on two wheels. He eventually wrecked it. Given the context with which I have provided you, would anyone care to guess how?

Oh I used to drive this back in high school when it was raining or snowing, trust me I know exactly how lol. Someone at my school had a 92 eddie bauer that was a shittier twin of this truck so I'd always park near it when I could. He also had a 22" (yes thats not a typo) sub in the back that he'd show off with in the parking lot.

Heres a flashback to 2009 with the explorer at my brothers old condo. We actually bought it new years day and drove it home with almost no coolant in the radiator. That was only a sign of things to come, when he took the wheel hub off and all the bearings fell on the ground, it became obvious that a long road of repairs was ahead.

Haha I've had cars/trucks like that. You get a nice little surprise early on they just keep on coming.

Also, 22"? Holy cow. Car audio these days has come a long, long way. I heard an 8" (yes, 8") the other day that ten years younger me would've assumed were two 12's.

yeah it was the size of a school desk. He would turn it off right when he left the parking lot. The box took up the entire back of the truck. I bet the shitty 85A alternator could never keep up with the power draw on that thing.

The junky A4LD 4spd auto was dying, so this was the obvious choice. This only has a 4.0 OHV making (well, rated) at 160hp, so it needs all the gearing help it can get. It has 4.56's with an aussie locker in the rear.

yeah makes sense. I'm sure that locker helps a bunch too.
